Current scores:
Eric 13, Alex 8

With Alex falling into the clutch of an MMO and Eric soon to have a child born, will the gaming backlogs stand a chance of ever disappearing?

1. Game Dev Story.
Awesome, awesome little game here. A simulator about developing games. Having millions of people buy a game called PORN for the system I created called THE BUTT may be extremely juvenile, but hilarious. The game itself is great, though.

2. Pilotwings Resort

To quote Chief Tyrol from Battlestar Gallactica, I “Got stuck with the best of limited options” on this one. The setting is completely recycled from Wii Sports Resort, but it’s fun… enough. Going into first person mode with the jet and cranking up the view angle on the 3D can give you some of those “wow” moments you should be looking for in a 3D console, but really…

At least they didn’t call it “Pilotwings 3″ and disgrace the noble house of Van Pilotluftwaffen. Expect to see this one in the bomber for 100 yen in a year.

1. Demon’s Blazon (Demon’s Crest)

Got this one at 1,000 yen (~), in box. An absolute steal considering it gets marked up to 4,000 yen at the game shops in Osaka, Demon’s Blazon (try saying that without sounding like Johnny Storm) is worth it, even at that price. You wouldn’t know it from the gameplay, but Demon’s Blazon comes from the purest of Capcom stock, Ghosts and Goblins. It’s fairly easy, unless you go for 100%, in which case it is MERCILESSLY DIFFICULT. We’re talking Maximum Carnage level, here. In that regard, it’s a chip off the old cart, though it thankfully doesn’t make you replay the whole game, like its grandpappy might have.

Also, it really shows off what Capcom was able to accomplish with its later Super Famicom games like Megaman X2 and X3. The backgrounds and sprites are lush, well-designed, and beautiful. Great game.
